Isometric Gas 02 – Pipeline with Temperature Variation
Figure 68 Isometric Gas 02 – Pipeline with Temperature Variation
Natural gas is transported from point A to various outlet points B, C, D, E & F. The elevation of the pipeline varies from 320 ft to 1840 ft, this results in different gas temperatures due to the different soil temperatures found at these elevations. Identify suitable compressor station locations based on the minimum supply pressure requirements.
Minimum supply pressure requirements:
B = 580 psig
C = 580 psig
E = 370 psig
F = 330 psig
Compressor Stations:
Option 1: One compressor at A adding 262 psi (delivering 200.0 MMSCFD) .
Compressor HP = 4384
Option 2: Two compressors.
Once compressor at A adding 230 psi (delivering 200.0 MMSCFD)
Once compressor at C adding 40 psi (delivering 24.0 MMSCFD)
Total compressor HP = 4008
Three fluid zones have been used to represent the change in average gas temperature due to the various soil temperatures found at the different elevations along the pipeline.
