Different types of tank have differing shapes and dimension parameters. By entering dimension criteria for a specific type of tank the Pipe Flow Advisor software is able to perform the calculations to determine weight, capacity and fluid volume for a given level of liquid.
Calculations results can be copied and pasted into other programs and there is even a copy screen image button, which then allows you to paste a visual image of the tank and its associated properties.
Volume of Different Shaped Tank Containers
Pipe Flow Advisor has a different volume calculation screen for each different style of tank. For example the screenshot shown here shows the calculation of properties for a cone shaped tank.
The type of tanks supported include circular tanks, cyclindrical tanks, spherical tanks, cone or frustrum tanks, rectangular hopper tanks, and standard rectangular tanks.
The software comes with its own materials database that contains density data and coefficient of linear expansion values for a range of common tank materials, including brass, cast iron, concrete, copper, glass, iron, lead, polypropylene, steel and stainless steel.
