This pipeline has to transport 5.0 MMSCFH of natural gas over a distance of 41 miles. The outlet pressure required is 700 psi.g (or more). 

With a single pipeline these requirements cannot be met. 

A looped section 17 miles in length has been introduced into the design at a mid point to suit the terrain and this reduces the pressure loss that is required to transport the gas (providing over 700 psi.g pressure at point D).
